2°C / 36°F Low Temperature Excursion Indicator

Timestrip® Descending TD404 is a single-use, irreversible low-temperature indicator designed to provide immediate visual evidence when a temperature-sensitive product is exposed below 2°C / 36°F.

TD404 is designed for refrigerated shipments and other applications where a product must remain above a critical minimum temperature, even though that minimum is still above freezing.

The indicator is self-activating and continuously monitors temperature. If temperature drops below 2°C / 36°F, the indicator permanently changes from green to red, providing a clear visual indication of the breach.

Ideal for pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics, medical products, refrigerated foods, life-science materials, chemicals, and other cold-sensitive products.

Know When Your Shipment Gets Too Cold

Detect Exposure Below 2°C / 36°F

Not every cold-chain product can safely approach freezing.

Some refrigerated products must remain above 2°C / 36°F throughout transportation and storage.

TD404 continuously monitors for temperatures falling below that minimum threshold and provides an irreversible visual indication if a qualifying low-temperature excursion occurs.

Green = No Breach

Red = Temperature Dropped Below 2°C / 36°F

Self-Activating Temperature Monitoring

No Manual Activation Required

TD404 requires no manual activation.

The indicator is self-activating and continuously monitors for low-temperature breaches, making it simple to deploy across refrigerated shipments and high-volume cold-chain programs.

Apply. Ship. Inspect.

No activation button.
No batteries.
No software.
No electronic reader.

LOW TEMPERATURE DETECTION

Detect exposure below a specified temperature threshold during storage and transportation.

IRREVERSIBLE VISUAL ALERT

A clear green-to-red color change provides permanent visual evidence of a qualifying temperature breach.

SELF-ACTIVATING TECHNOLOGY

No manual activation, batteries, software, electronic reader, or specialized equipment required.

FAQ's

What is a descending temperature indicator?

A descending temperature indicator monitors for temperatures falling below a specified threshold.

Unlike an ascending temperature indicator designed to identify excessive heat, Timestrip Descending provides an irreversible visual indication when a product experiences a qualifying low-temperature excursion.

What is a freeze indicator?

A freeze indicator provides visual evidence that a temperature-sensitive product has experienced temperatures at or below a specified low-temperature threshold.

Freeze monitoring is particularly important for products such as certain vaccines, pharmaceuticals, biological materials, foods, and chemicals that can be damaged by freezing or excessive cold.

How does Timestrip Descending work?

Timestrip Descending continuously monitors temperature.

When temperature drops below its specified threshold, the indicator undergoes an irreversible green-to-red color change, providing an immediate visual indication that a breach occurred.

Does Timestrip Descending need to be activated?

No.

Timestrip Descending is self-activating and requires no special activator or manual activation procedure.

Can Timestrip Descending be used for vaccines?

Yes. Freeze-sensitive vaccines and pharmaceuticals are important applications for descending temperature monitoring because certain products can be compromised by accidental freezing during transportation or storage.
